Meat-tails: A Disturbing Trend?

Settling in after a long day's work, I flipped open my Esquire magazine. I enjoyed one article after another, anticipating the usually well-written piece on cocktails. This month, however, it featured the whiskeyburger cocktail. And my eyebrow cocked.

I like whiskey. Oh, do I like whiskey. Ditto for hamburgers. That said, I like them served in a glass and on a plate. Respectively, and separately. The whiskeyburger cocktail struck me as a bizarre blend of the two. Granted, I have never tried one, but it doesn't sound like my cup of tea -- or perhaps, my cup of beef.

I thought that meat-tail might have been a fluke, but then I saw another piece online about a bacon martini. In the same slideshow as a bacon bra. (Food safety issues, anyone?) It was the same story -- I like bacon, and I like martinis, but bacon martinis? I have my doubts.

Putting my skepticism aside, I have to commend these folks for coming up with new ideas, as I try to do all the time. So, readers and commenters, please let me know if you have had a meat-tail, and whether my doubts are legitimate or just another case of jumping the gun.
