Strawberry Cosmopolitan

Cranberry is red and sweet, but strawberry is redder and sweeter. This cocktail has brilliant color and a refreshing fruity flavor.

Strawberry Cosmopolitan

8 oz fresh ripe strawberries
2t sugar
Juice of ½ lime
1 oz orange liqueur
2 oz vodka

Muddle strawberries and sugar. Press through strainer to yield 1 oz juice. Combine juice with other ingredients and shake with ice. Serve in a cocktail glass.

Variation: For a simpler strawberry flavor, reduce but do not omit the lime juice.

Pomegranate Cosmopolitan

This cocktail was born in the fall of 2006 as pomegranate juice got trendy.

Pomegranate Cosmopolitan

2 oz vodka
1 oz triple sec
1 oz pomegranate (or pomegranate – blueberry) juice
½ oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

Sheer Cosmopolitan

I created this cocktail a few years ago, and it was one of my first originals. It has the berry and citrus flavors of a traditional cosmopolitan with a sleek, sheer look.

Sheer Cosmopolitan

2 oz cranberry vodka
1 oz triple sec
½ oz fresh-squeezed lime juice, strained

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with lime and a sugared rim. For a top shelf version, use a premium orange liqueur, such as Cointreau (Grand Marnier is not so sheer).
