MxMo: Purple Orchid
First things first, thanks to Anna at
Morsels & Musings for hosting this round of Mixology Monday, with the theme of fruit liqueurs. What a rich topic.
My contribution is a cocktail I created a few weeks ago but hadn't yet posted. Now I am glad I held back, because it is a good fit for Anna's theme. Deep berry in both hue and flavor, this cocktail has a triple hit of fruit flavor. Creme de cassis takes center stage against a backdrop of mandarin orange. A squeeze of lemon rounds out the sweetness. It's very smooth, so be prepared to mix a second round.
Purple Orchid
3 oz mandarin orange vodka
1 1/2 oz creme de cassis
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Shake ingredients together with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
