A little extra work, but the fresh result is more delicious, complex and memorable than the standard slush that any college bar can pump out.
Deconstructed Strawberry Daiquiri
2 oz light rum
1 fresh strawberry
1 oz strawberry sorbet
Trim blossom end from strawberry. Soak in 1 oz light rum for one hour. Spoon sorbet tightly into 1 oz shot glass. Level with knife, wipe glass if necessary. Shake 1 oz light rum over ice and strain into 1 oz shot glass. Present rum, sorbet and strawberry on a plate with a small spoon (such as a demitasse spoon).
Variation: Squirt or pool of strawberry coulis on plate. Soak the strawberry in high-proof rum if you can handle it.

Hey Shawn,
This sounds really delicious. It is fascinating to see the way people are coming up with new variations from the ole' "shake and strain!
