This recipe is an exception -- I did not create it myself. The method and proportions for a simple syrup are well known and easy to find. Because a number of my recipes call for it, it's included here.
Simple syrup is critical in some recipes, and, depending on guests' preferences, a softening touch to add to others, particularly to curb sour juices or the taste of the base liquor.
Simple Syrup
1 part sugar
1 part boiling water
Dissolve sugar completely into boiling water.
